Dealer trades Hummer for plug-in Hybrid EV

In its first full month of retail sales the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) has become New Zealand’s most popular EV with sales of 41 units says the distributor.

Customers are trading all manner of vehicles to get behind the wheel of the Outlander PHEV, such as Wanganui Mitsubishi customer Wayne Watson who traded-in his Hummer.

“The new Outlander PHEV with it’s remarkable technology, performance and fuel economy was an obvious choice to replace my thirsty Hummer,” says Watson.

Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand Limited says that not only is this the largest selling EV for the month of April, but it also makes Outlander PHEV the largest selling electric vehicle yet introduced to New Zealand.

MMNZ head of marketing and sales Daniel Cook says that dealerships around the country have been flat out providing test drives and taking customer orders.

“We encourage anyone to book a time to experience the new technology first-hand at one of our dealerships,” says Cook

At the media launch of the Outlander PHEV earlier this year MMNZ executives predicted sales of up to 50 units a month to AutoTalk. Read more here
