Musk ditches White House roles

Tesla boss Elon Musk has quit his position as a White House advisor after president Donald Trump pulled the US out of the Paris Agreement.

Musk indicated on Thursday he would leave the two advisory council roles if Trump pulled the pin on the climate accord, The Washington Post reports.

“Leaving Paris is not good for America or the world,” Musk wrote on Twitter.

The 45-year-old entrepreneur was on the president’s Strategic and Policy Forum as well as the White House’s manufacturing council.

Musk’s role as Trump’s advisor previously saw some customers cancel reservations for Tesla’s upcoming Model 3 electric car.

Last week, Musk tweeted he was “cautiously optimistic of a positive decision” about Paris.
