EV enthusiasts honoured
The electric vehicle community has honoured some of its top proponents at the first ever evworld Champion Awards.
It is being run in conjunction with electric vehicle event evworld, being held at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, Auckland.
The major award winner was Mark Nixon, who picked up the EV Champion prize for his efforts volunteering to promote electric vehicles, including organising test drives and media promotion.
Nixon thanked his wife for “bringing home the bacon”, which allowed him to follow his EV passion.
Meanwhile, specialist EV rental company Blue Cars won the SME EV Champion of the Year award and Christchurch City Council picked up the Most EV Friendly Town of the Year.
Waste Management won Fleet Champion of the Year, while GVI Electric was awarded the EV Sector Sales and Service Champion prize.
The awards ceremony kicked off the two-day evworld event, which has its trade day on Friday and public day on Saturday.
