Kiwi Mitch Evans third in Formula E

Mitch Evans – Jaguar I-TYPE 2

Kiwi driver Mitch Evans has placed third in Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s first podium for the British team in the FIA Formula E.

Evans was awarded third after FIA stewards confirmed winning driver Daniel Abt, of Audi Abt Schaeffler, was disqualified for a technical infringement.

On the second day of the Hong Kong E-Prix, Evans set the team’s best qualifying position. He recorded the quickest time in qualifying and debuted in the Super Pole session for the fastest five drivers – a first for the team.

Fellow team driver Nelson Piquet Jr made a strong start to the all-electric series during Saturday’s E-Prix with Jaguar matching its highest finish from the team’s entry season by taking fourth. He ended just outside of the points in 12th during Sunday’s E-Prix.

The third E-Prix of the season is in Marrakesh on January 13.
