Isuzu releasing small EV truck this year
A small electric truck will be launched by Isuzu in the Japanese market by the end of this year.
The truck will be developed by replacing the power train of Isuzu’s Elf small truck with a driving motor and battery, Japan Today reports.
“We aim at a drive range longer than 100km,” Isuzu says. The company expects the truck can be easily used for delivery operation in urban areas.
The EV truck has two 40kWh battery packs, between the right front and rear wheels and between the left front and rear wheels.
Maximum output is expected to be 150kW and the load capacity is reported to be about 3000kg.
It’s expected to rival the eCanter.
Mitsubishi Fuso started delivering its eCanter small EV truck to Seven-Eleven Japan and Yamato Transport in October.
The eCanter’s range is 100km, similar to Isuzu’s EV truck.
