Kiwi ready to electrify Santiago

Kiwi Formula E driver Mitch Evans expects to do well in the first all-electric street racing hosted by Chile on February 3.

He and Panasonic Jaguar Racing team mate Nelson Piquet Jr are in the ABB FIA Formula E top ten (Piquet fourth, Evans eighth) with their team fourth after three races in the series.

Evans says he’s looking forward to the challenge of a new circuit. They have been training on simulators for the event, and Evans says the Jaguar I-Type 2 car is suited to tracks like this.

The 2.46km technical track winds through Santiago’s vibrant city centre. Starting on the Avenue Santa Maria, drivers will cross the Mapocho river and speed through the Plazza Baquedano at up to 225km/h before finishing among the trees in the Parque Forestal.

The Chile event will help Jaguar promote electrification to consumers and increase awareness of the benefits of electric vehicles in a new market ahead of the launch of its first all-electric battery-powered car, the Jaguar I-Pace performance SUV.
