T-Tech takes in-depth look at future cities

The future of transport will be covered by New York-based Greg Lindsay as the keynote speaker at “T-Tech”, the Transport Innovation Conference organised by ITS New Zealand in Auckland on March 19 and 20.

The T-Tech programme will enlighten attendees on international ideas, trends and emerging technology.

It will also highlight New Zealand’s responses to the challenges and opportunities ahead, and some of the research, trials and world-class innovation taking place here.

A journalist, urbanist and futurist, Lindsay’s work is focused on how cities will change and make the most of opportunities from emerging transport technology and mobility solutions.

As T-Tech’s keynote speaker, Lindsay will lead a programme featuring several respected international speakers who ITS New Zealand have invited to share their knowledge and experience.

He has been described as an expert on the future of travel, technology and urbanism by many, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, USA Today, CNN, NPR and the BBC.

He leads the “NewCities”
Connected Mobility Initiative and is author of the report Now Arriving: A Connected Mobility Roadmap for Public Transport, sponsored by the Toyota Mobility Foundation.

He is also urbanist-in-residence at Urban-X — BMW Mini’s urban tech accelerator— where he oversees public programming.

In 2017, Lindsay worked with Intel to develop its Passenger Economy report, which estimated the economic opportunity of autonomous vehicles (AVs) will reach US$7 trillion by 2050.
He has also consulted with the Bloomberg Aspen Initiative on Cities and Autonomous Vehicles to help cities use AVs to further their public policy goals.

He has advised several international organisations including Samsung, Starbucks, Audi, Chrysler, Tishman Speyer, British Land, André Balazs Properties, Emaar and Expo 2020, among others.

Lindsay speaks frequently about globalisation, innovation and the future of cities, most recently at Sandia National Laboratories, the United Kingdom Treasury, the OECD, Harvard Business School, the MIT Media Lab, Deloitte and McKinsey.

T-Tech is being held at the Pullman Hotel over two days and will cover transport technology, mobility solutions and “liveable” communities.

The conference aims to educate those taking part on how innovations could result in safety improvements, reduced pollution and better urban planning. The impact of changes in those areas has vast potential for economic gain, improving health, security, equality and liveability.

T-Tech is to be ITS New Zealand’s most ambitious event of the year with more than 200 people expected, representing government, transport and technology communities.

The 25th UTS World Congress 2018 is in Copenhagen Spetember 17-21.
Meanwhile, expressions of interest are also being sought for the ITS World Congress 2019 in Singapore on October 21-25.
