Evie joining Leading the Charge
Evie the electric 1957 Ford Fairlane will take people for rides in Hamilton and Auckland during the Leading the Charge EV tour of New Zealand.
Mercury confirms its EV poster child classic car conversion will be at the tour stops in Hamilton on March 28 at Garden Square, 3pm-6pm, and in Auckland on March 31 at AUT Akoranga Campus, Northcote, noon-4pm.
Evie was converted from a gas guzzler to all-electric in under six months for Mercury and is appearing in shows, at events, in advertisements, on social media and more to help promote the benefits of EVs.
Mercury says it will use the car to continue to showcase the opportunity New Zealand has with renewable electricity powering our transport.
The story of her conversion to include a 170kW Siemens electric bus motor run by 218 batteries was also made into a video – mcy.nz/MakingEvie .
