Driverless vehicle summit in Adelaide

About 300 delegates are expected at the third International Driverless Vehicle Summit at the Adelaide Convention Centre from October 31-November 2.

The Australia and New Zealand Driverless Vehicle Initiative (ADVI) team says it’s excited about the opportunity to present what will be the biggest and best summit of its kind to date.

More than 16 speakers are expected at the summit which has the theme “accelerating the mobility evolution”.
Some of the international keynote speakers include Uniti chairman Michael Molitor, David Keen from RDM Group UK and Patrick Poh from the Land Transport Authority, Singapore.

Others include New Zealand Transport Agency connected journey solutions director Martin McMullan, New South Wales chief scientist professor Hugh Durrant-Whyte, Transit Australia Group chief commercial officer and general counsel Damien Brown, ADVI chair and ARRB chief executive officer Michael Caltabiano, Transport for NSW freight strategy and planning division deputy secretary Clare Gardiner-Barnes, Cooperative and Automated Vehicle Initiative (CAVI) director Dr Miranda Blogg from Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads, Easy Mile Asia-Pacific delivery head Simon Pearce, RAC Western Australia public policy advocacy and members general manager Anne Still, and many more.

Delegates will spend much of the first day visiting autonomous vehicle sites such as the FLEX shuttle trial at Tonsley and the Lyell McEwin Hospital shuttle trial.

An opening ceremony on November 1 has a welcome by Caltabiano, followed by three plenary sessions and another session which includes smart city planning, legal and management aspects of AV integration plus a think tank.

November 2 has two more plenary sessions, along with two parallel sessions covering lessons from AV trials, insurance and liability, vehicle tech, social acceptance of AVs and improving accessibility for the ageing and people with disabilities.
