Range Rover Evoque EV coming next year

Details about the next Range Rover Evoque luxury SUV include a plug-in hybrid due out in 2019.

The latest launch in the United Kingdom features new architecture developed for electrification, with a 48-volt mild-hybrid available at launch and the PHEV offered around a year later.

The latest model has a lot of new technology included, such as the world’s first “ground view” which makes the bonnet invisible while a high-definition video screen revolutionises rear view mirror visibility from the driver’s seat.

New environmentally-friendly materials feature textiles using recycling plastics as premium alternatives to leather.

Apple CarPlay connects the smartphone, 4G WiFi hotspot connects to the internet, while InControl Remote connects occupants to the vehicle.

“Accounting for one in every four Land Rovers sold over the past eight years, this next generation SUV represents a significant advance on one of our most popular models,” Land Rover NZ general manager Steve Kenchington says.

The architecture is all-new to enable electrification, with only the door hinges remaining unchanged, Jaguar Land Rover product engineering executive director Nick Rogers says.

Evoque is the first Land Rover with “smart settings”, which uses artificial intelligence algorithms to learn the driver’s preference and acts as an onboard butler. In addition to seat position, music and climate settings, Evoque can control massage and steering column preferences to maximise comfort.

The exact specification for New Zealand has yet to be finalised.
