Uber is reportedly preparing to launch its own electric bikes and e-scooters in New Zealand next year.

The firm already has a share in Lime, which has more than 1000 e-scooters in Auckland and Christchurch, also planning moves into other centres.

Uber and Lime agreed to share app technology, and Uber also has an agreement to provide Lime with e-bikes, the NZ Herald reports, adding Uber has e-scooters and e-bikes in parts of the US as it looks to expand from just cars.

The company aims to be “the Amazon of transportation” with new modes of transport considered, Uber chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi says.
