Chinese automobile manufacturer BYD is rolling out three electric commercial vehicles product lines targeted at fleet operators in Europe.

It includes two electric trucks and an electric van range which were recently unveiled in Murcia, south-east Spain.

It’s the first time BYD has launched its electric truck and van range into Europe.

Spanish BYD dealership Tomi Maquinaria hosted the presentation of the new commercial range with guests from local and regional Spanish government, logistic companies and other dealerships.

The first trucks available to European customers are the 7.5T light truck and 46T gross combination designed for airport, port and distribution centres.

BYD plans to roll out its full range of electric light and heavy commercial vehicles across Europe over the next few years.

BYD Europe managing director Isbrand Ho says the European expansion is a “highly significant step” for the company.

The electric trucks and vans follow buses, taxis and forklifts which have already established a strong market presence in Europe for the firm.

BYD recently produced its 50,000 ebus into the global market.

“We are confident that this fourth product range, etrucks, will also win sales success even though the European sector is intensely competitive,” Ho says.
