Nio named among world’s most innovative firms

EV start-up company Nio has been selected at number five on Fast Company’s 2019 list of the Most Innovative Companies in China.

Nio has been described as the “Chinese Tesla” because of its EV-only manufacturing line, and US business magazine Fast Company even describes the Chinese EV maker as bringing similar excitement to the market as Tesla has.

Joining 50 innovative global companies on the list to make significant impacts in their fields, Nio is a pioneer in China’s EV market, forming in November 2014.

It designs, jointly manufactures, and sells smart and connected premium EVs, producing innovations in connectivity, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). Nio also offers charging solutions and other EV related services.

A seven-seat high-performance SUV called the ES8 came from Nio in June 2018 and it launched the five-seat ES6 SUV in December 2018.

Last year, Nio produced more than 10,000 ES8s.

The company is also involved in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

Nio co-founder and president Lihong Qin is a key speaker at the Nordic EV Summit in Oslo on March 21 and 22.

Qin is responsible for Nio’s overall operations across China and internationally. He has 15 years of managerial experience in strategic brand development, marketing, communications and business development.

Other summit speakers include Meridian Energy procurement manager Nick Robilliard and Norwegian EV Association secretary general Christina Bu.
