NZTA Connected Journeys team disconnected?
The automotive industry is unhappy the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) Connected Journeys team has been absorbed into another agency group and its director gone.
An NZTA spokesman says the Connected Journeys Solutions (CJS) Group was incorporated into a new Operations Group within the agency in January 2019, “along with a number of other changes aimed at simplifying our organisational structure by grouping functions together”.
The spokesman says the Connected Journeys team continues to be an integrated part of the Operations Group.
The NZTA confirms Connected Journeys solutions director Martin McMullan has resigned from the agency.
No other details have been provided.
“The disbanding of NZTA’s dedicated Connected Journeys team, with the director reporting directly to the chief executive, is a retrograde step,” Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (VIA) chief executive David Vinsen says.
“The team had already started to give New Zealand a leading edge in developing Mobility as a Service (MaaS) operations,” he says.
“In fact, NZTA’s prototype RideMate app has already been recognised as a prime example of government leading the way.”

I heard today 30/5/20 on RNZ radio news at 8am – that NZTA has voted to keep ‘all funding from bidders secret from all public scrutiny from now on, can you make this information public please.
