Presentations will also come from Jaguar, Renault and Volkswagen about the future of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in Turanga’s level one function room at 10.30am and 1pm.

Vehicle suppliers will have information stalls at Turanga.

Anyone with a valid NZ driver’s licence wanting a test drive can register on the day.

The Take Charge Christchurch programme aims to encourage the public and businesses to test drive and learn more about BEVs, council resource efficiency manager Kevin Crutchley says.

“We want to promote the value of battery electric vehicles in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution and also have some fun by taking the wheel of some of the latest technology zero exhaust emission vehicles.”
