Electrics to drive China auto show
A large number of electric vehicles (EVs) feature at the 18th international automobile industry exhibition Auto Shanghai 2019.
That illustrates the global drive to produce EVs, with China particularly active on this front.
Auto Shanghai 2019 – open to the press on April 16-17 and for the general exhibition on April 18-25 – features dozens of electrified and concept vehicles from different brands.
These include the Audi AI:me concept, Audi Q2 L e-tron, Aston Martin Rapide E, BYD hybrid super car, Buick Velite 6, Faraday Future V9, Geely GE11, Infiniti QS Inspiration, Karma, Mercedes-Benz EQC and EQB, Nio ET7, Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission, Renault K-ZE, Volkswagen ID. Roomzz, Skoda Vision iV and more.
China is phasing out subsidies and some compulsory sales targets are being added to EV makers there, with EV and hybrid SUV and sedan sales rising 60% last year to 1.3 million or half the global total.
Many Chinese produced EVs are expected to cost less than US$10,000.
