Singapore slings off Musk’s comment

Tesla chief executive Elon Musk’s tilt at Singapore over EVs seems to have backfired.
Musk had earlier criticised Singapore in a tweet for “not being supportive” of EVs when asked by Singaporeans why they couldn’t get Teslas.
Now Singapore’s environment minister Masagos Zulkifli has hit back, saying Musk wants “to produce a lifestyle” while the country’s government is more interested in better public transport and hydrogen vehicles to combat climate change, the South China Morning Post reports.

The city state, which has said its efforts to cope with climate change are as crucial as military defence, has prioritised greater use of its trains and buses, it reports Zulkifli as saying.
Tesla did not immediately respond to the South China Morning Post’s request for comment.

Good on Singapore for calling out Tesla on their hypocrisy.
Sustainable Transport cannot be obtained via private EV ownership. It can only be obtained via high occupancy passenger services. Tesla deliberately obstructs passenger services by banning Tesla vehicles used for such services from Supercharging.
