Rivian utes seen in Argentina
Two preproduction electric Rivian R1T utes have been photographed in Argentina.
These are reportedly undergoing testing in the harsh conditions at Tierra del Fuego.
A Rivian reservation holder spotted the two utes in the capital Ushuaia and posted photos on Rivian Forums where some compared them with concept photos.
A report on Argentina’s Autoblog says the Rivians are part of Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman’s newest travelogue documentary. The pair teamed in Long Way Round in 2004, from London to New York via Europe and Asia, and Long Way Down from Scotland’s John O’Groats to South Africa’s Cape Town.
The third in the series is likely to be called Long Way Up, from Ushuaia to the top of Alaska. Argentina Autoblog reports the convoy it saw in Tierra del Fuego included four Harley-Davidson electric LiveWires, the two Rivian R1Ts, two all-wheel drive Mercedes-Benz Sprinters and a Ford F-350.
The Argentina reports on Rivian Forums suggest a first glimpse of a production interior including the steering wheel, the charge port being moved from the passenger side to the driver’s, tow hooks added to the front bumper and some design changes.
Rivian is expected to host an event in Atlanta on September 13.
