Daimler launches new transportation podcast

Daimler Trucks and Buses has launched a new transport podcast hosted by board member and chief executive Martin Daum.

The show, named Transportation Matters, covers trends and topics in the industry with special guests.

This includes current challenges in the commercial vehicle business such as climate change, digitalisation, electric and automated driving, the future of the work and much more.

The first podcast featured Torc Robotics chief executive Michael Fleming, a pioneer in automated driving.

Daum says the podcast allows for deeper conversation on a broad range of topics within the transport industry.

“Some of these are quick to convey. Some need more space to be discussed in the requisite depth.

“For this deeper dive a podcast is, in our view, the optimal format. It can provide a lot of information, background and different points of view.” 

Daimler Trucks and Buses head of communications Florian Martens says the audio format of podcasts is “a perfect fit”.

“It’s all about an open and critical discourse on important questions concerning the economy, transportation and society.

“In our podcast we are presenting our company and CEO in an up-to-date and innovative format in a profound way,” Martens says.

Other guests will include former German foreign minister and vice chancellor Joschka Fischer, NBA Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts and Brad White from creative consultancy BrightHouse on the topic of purpose.

The first season of Transportation Matters consists of five episodes that will be broadcast in English and German on the first Wednesday of each month. It’s available on all major platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube.
