More details for electric Volvo XC40 SUV

Volvo has already announced its electric XC40 SUV.

Unique to the electric XC40, a front-load compartment located under the front hood provides around 30L of extra space.

The front of the car has a covered front grille in the body colour, creating a “distinct visual identity.” The grille packages the sensors for the new Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensor platform.

Volvo has added a new driver interface, designed for EVs, which keeps drivers up to date on relevant information like battery status.

Future owners will be glad its carpets are made from recycled materials.

“The roots of Scandinavian design are based on visual clarity and the reduction of element. The XC40 is a great example of this,” Volvo head of design Robin Page says.

“It’s bold, instantly recognisable design is now even sleeker and more modern in an all-electric version. Without the need for a grille, we have created an even cleaner and more modern face, while the lack of tailpipes does the same at the rear. This is the approach we will explore more and more as we continue down the road of electrification.”

The XC40 will be available in eight exterior colours, including a new sage green metallic option. Two new 19” and 20” wheel options will be available as well for drivers who wish to customise their EV.

Volvo will reveal more information about the electric XC40 in the coming weeks, before being shown to public on October 16.

New Zealand launch timing and pricing are yet to be confirmed.
