Bus conference to cover future transport

The future of electric vehicles will be among topics up for discussion at the annual Bus and Coach Association annual conference next week.

The “evolution of transport” is the theme across the two-day event taking place at Manukau Vodafone Events Centre from October 8-10.

The conference will be opened by the associate transport minister Julie Anne Genter. 

The programme includes other topics such as changing employment demographics, an interactive panel on the future of industrial relations with the Council of Trade Unions (CTU), Business NZ and Australian counterparts and Lane Neave Lawyers.

Presentations from Auckland Transport, the Ministry of Education, and NZ Transport Agency officials will cover the Government’s visions for the transport industry along with question time.

Implementing fully-electric buses, e-scooters, ride-sharing, an exciting technical stream for workshop staff and an inspirational session from Sir Ian Ferguson.

Other speakers include Auckland Transport chief executive Shane Ellison, Ministry of Transport chief executive Peter Mersi, Massey University professor Paul Spoonley, ASB Bank chief economist Nick Tuffley and Council of Trade Unions president Richard Wagstaff.
