Mercedes-Benz GLC adds PHEV to range

The Mercedes-Benz GLC is set to add a plug-in hybrid model (PHEV) to its range.

For the first time, the GLC range will include a PHEV, available from the second quarter of 2020.

It adds the GLC 300 e 4MATIC in the SUV body style as a PHEV choice.

The dual drivetrain combines a 2.0L, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine (155kW/350Nm) with an electric motor (90kW/440Nm), with a maximum combined output of 235kW and 700Nm.

The PHEV can go from 0 to 100km/h in 5.7 seconds and uses 2.2 litres per 100km, operating for up to 43 kilometres purely on electricity.

The lithium-ion battery can store 13.5kWh of energy and can be recharged in just under two hours using the Mercedes-Benz wallbox home, or public charging stations. It takes seven hours on a conventional domestic power socket to fully charge.

The entire Mercedes-Benz range is getting an upgrade, featuring new styling, a revised choice of powertrains and technological upgrades along with the PHEV addition.

The GLC 300 e 4MATIC SUV retails from $105,000.
