Cheaper, longer range Porsche Taycan 4S

Porsche Taycan 4S

Porsche has presented a third version of its electric Taycan only a month after debuting the sports car on three continents simultaneously.

The “entry-level” Taycan 4S is cheaper than the earlier announced Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S but has similar power and is due in European dealerships in January 2020, with the  US market expecting it shortly after.

The 4S has the option of two battery sizes – the ‘performance battery’ produces up to 390kW of power for US$103,800, and the ‘performance battery plus’ of up to 420kW for US$110,380 compared with the Turbo’s US$150,900 price tag and US$185,000 for the Turbo S – about US$47,000 and US$75,000 less respectively.

In both variants, the Taycan 4S accelerates from a standing start to 100km/h in 4.0 seconds and reaches a 250km/h top speed.

The range is up to 407km with the performance battery – barely five kilometres less that the Turbo S – and up to 463km with the performance battery plus compared with 450km for the Turbo.
