First production Byton M-Byte out

The first Byton M-Byte has rolled off its factory production line in China.

“With the start of pre-series production and with many cars following in the next months, we are focusing on perfecting producing processes and achieving top product quality,” Byton says.

The company says the Byton M-Byte is “more than just another electric car.

“We’re creating the next generation smart device on wheels to seamlessly connect your digital life and make your time on the move more enjoyable.”

Through 150kW fast charging the Byton M-Byte can reach 80% charge in about 35 minutes from flat.

Its interior is described as “your personal digital lounge” with a “highly intuitive user interface”.

That includes touch and gesture control, voice command, driver’s face recognition, and fewer buttons.

Battery options are 72kWh or 95kWh with a power output of 200kW (rear wheel drive) or 300kW (all-wheel drive), its range around 430km-550km, top speed about 190km/h and the M-Byte can get from 0 to 100km/h in 5.5 seconds (AWD) or 7.5s (RWD).

Seating arrangement is 2+2 or 2+3.

The base price is expected to be around US$45,000 with other details yet to become available.
