Video: India poised to be major EV player
Consumer wealth in India has risen sharply with the growth of industry and urbanisation over the past 20 years, transforming the way it moves.
Travellers who used to walk now use fast and affordable scooters, and, to a lesser extent, private cars.
India sold some 20 million petrol scooters in 2017, accounting for around 80% of vehicle sales in the country and 45% of the global motorcycle market.
Electrifying this segment would go a long way towards reducing India’s air pollution, says IDTechEx which will be discussing these trends and more at the Electric Vehicle and Energy Storage forums in Stuttgart, Germany, December 3 and 4.
A dedicated session on India is included.
The six forum sessions include Forum 1 – Electric Vehicles: Markets & Trends on Land, Sea, Air; Escape From Peak Car and The Next Wave of Electric Vehicles, Forum 2 – Electric Vehicle Roadmap for China & India, Forum 3 – Smart Materials for Structural Electronics – all on December 3.
