Transport key component of Urban Futures 2020

Planning and designing sustainable, liveable and inclusive towns and cities for today and tomorrow is the theme of the Urban Futures 2020 conference in Auckland next year.
Auckland Transport, the NZ Transport Agency and ride-share service Ola are among more than 23 organisations presenting at the February 17-18 event in the Crowne Plaza, organised by Conferenz.
Urban Futures 2020 brings together renowned key stakeholders from across Aotearoa who will showcase innovative approaches, discuss framework conditions and examine potential solutions to the issues facing urban centres.
Transport features in understanding how to sustainably integrate the various requirements, with electric, connected and autonomous vehicles sure to be discussed.
Presentations will explore innovative and sustainable design, planning for the effects of climate change, and to ensure that New Zealanders are at the heart of decision-making processes.
NZ Infrastructure Commission chair and former Reserve Bank governor Dr Alan Bollard is among keynote speakers.
Urban designers, architects, town planners, managers of key urban infrastructure, community and business leaders involved in development initiatives, policy advisors and analysts, civil engineers and project managers are among those encouraged to attend.
The conference aims to study the policies and legislation supporting urban development, assessing how changing demographic dynamics will influence future planning and designing, harnessing innovative and integrated spatial planning and infrastructure delivery and managing, mitigating and adapting to natural hazards and climate change.
