Auckland e-scooter hire drops
Flamingo remains the sole electric scooter hire service in Auckland at present after Lime and Wave’s licences were canned by the Auckland Council following safety concerns.
That’s despite three other e-scooter rental operators getting licences to operate in Auckland.
Beam and Uber-owned Jump intend officially launching early next year, with Neuron expected to join them later.
E-scooters available for hire in Auckland fell from 1800 to 525 after Lime and Wave stopped, Stuff reports.
That could reach 3200 once all the e-scooter rental services are established in the city, with Flamingo planning 110 more for downtown Auckland.
Meanwhile, Jump says it will introduce dockless electric bikes to Auckland next year, although no launch date has yet been revealed.
The Jump e-scooters and e-bikes will be available through the Uber app.
