Tesla Model Y China production starting?
An indication of Model Y production starting as early as January 7 at Tesla’s Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, China, may have come in a leaked image.
EV advocate Yan Chang shared the picture of a Model Y poster on Twitter after becoming one of the first people to drive the Chinese made Model 3 in November.
The earlier starting date for Model Y production is “unprecedented” as it could be produced in China about the same time as in the US, Teslarati
reports.
Tesla started taking Model Y orders on its China website days ago and chief executive Elon Musk is reportedly on his way to China for the unveiling of the second batch of Model 3s, this time going to China-based customers.
The news has brought a generally sceptical response.
One Twitter user says the image reads “Model Y program opening” rather than a production start.
