SeePort Festival celebrates seventh year

Ports of Auckland’s SeePort Festival on January 25-27 has a wealth of free events for the public from designing an electric tug and future port to tours.

Captain Cook and Marsden wharves will be transformed with carnival rides, boat sailings, a KiwiRail locomotive display, autonomous cranes, Sanford demonstrations, a Museum of Transport and Technology display, and a bugs education programme with the Ministry of Primary Industries which has been grappling with pest stink bugs arriving on vehicle carriers.

There are also helicopter rides, virtual reality events, music, food and more.

Visitors, expected in the hundreds, are also able to take a virtual reality tour of a typical port working day, check out tugs and Navy boats, bands and displays, ride on a Ports of Auckland Ltd (POAL) bus tour and see customs detector dogs.

People can even park their bike or electric bike at a designated site on Captain Cook Wharf.
