Video: Tesla Model Y with roof racks seen
A Tesla Model Y with low-profile roof racks on its glass roof has been seen in California.
It’s provided a first look at how the roof-mounted rails will appear on the all-electric crossover, Teslarati reports.
In a video shared by RTK, the roof rack with crossbars is similar to the Model 3 roof rack that Tesla has in its online shop. As the Model Y is largely based on the Model 3 platform and shares about 75% of its components, Teslarati says it expects the roof racks to also be similar.
If so, the Model Y roof rack should have four mounting points on the vehicle’s all-glass roof. Generally made of powder-coated aluminium with a T-slot running along the crossbar, the racks should carry about 60kg, including skis and bikes.
It’s likely the racks will be sold separately through the company’s online shop.
