EVs pass 20,000 mark
New Zealand’s EV fleet has hit 20,050.
That’s the latest from the Ministry of Transport which has acknowledged the milestone, predicted in
to exceed 20,000 registrations in March.
EV registrations were expected to reach 32,000 by the end of this year in order to meet the 64,000 EV target by the end of 2021 set by the former National government.
The 20,000 EV milestone was also mentioned at EVtalk’s
inaugural EVs and Beyond conference on Waiheke Island on March 16 and 17, of which around 100 people took part.
Some 400 people also visited an Electric Island Waiheke public open day display on March 14 and around 90 EVs (including more than 60 Nissan Leafs) gathered at PlaceMakers Waiheke on March 15 in a record attempt for the most EVs in one place at the same time.
