Mercury’s new ceo starts early

Mercury’s appointed chief executive Vince Hawksworth takes up his position on March 30.
It is greatly appreciated that Trustpower has agreed to its former chief executive being able to bring his Mercury start date forward from the previously announced April 28, Mercury chair Prue Flacks says.
“A lot of activity is underway in relation to Mercury’s and the energy sector’s response to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic,” she says.
“Given these extraordinary times, it has been agreed that Vince will join the team early and will assist Mercury to manage its response in a way that supports our people, communities and the country.”
Hawksworth succeeds EV advocate Fraser Whineray who left Mercury to take up the new position of chief operating officer at Fonterra.
Whineray was named Chief Executive of the Year at the 2019 Deloitte Top 200 Awards.
