Tesla Battery Day mid-May?
Tesla’s Battery Day initially planned for April will likely be held mid-May.
That’s the indication from Tesla chief executive Elon Musk on Twitter.
He’s expected to outline the company’s plans for battery development for future vehicles and energy solutions.
Musk says the event will be geared toward a review of Tesla’s cell chemistry, module and pack, architecture, and the company’s manufacturing plan that will detail how it can reach a terawatt-hour annually of battery production, Teslarati reports.
No reason has been given yet for the Battery Day delay, media suggesting it’s related to the COVID-19 pandemic with restrictions stopping production lines in Fremont and Buffalo and restricting contact between people.
Speculation includes a possible announcement that Tesla’s battery costs will drop to US$100 per kWh and the development of a “million-mile battery”.
