Tesla Model 3 eighth best-selling car in US

Tesla’s Model 3 is the eighth best-selling car in the US in the first quarter of 2020.

So says Clean Technica which estimates that’s the case based on figures it has worked with – including those from EV Volumes and Tesla Motors Club members, adding the Model 3 was the ninth best-selling car there in 2019.

Clean Technica notes the Model 3 has a higher base price than most comparable vehicles but buyers can add upgraded features, operational and maintenance costs are low and resale value is high.

It adds Tesla Model 3 owners are happier with their cars than owners of any other vehicle and predicts that Model Y sales will likely surpass those for the Model 3 once production is sufficient.

Meanwhile, Electrek reports Volkswagen chief executive Hebert Diess has admitted Tesla has a significant lead in software and its use in self-driving.

Tesla has recently added a ”Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control” to some of its vehicles with Hardware 3 and Autopilot packaging, the feature designed to allow them to recognise and respond to traffic lights and stop signs.
