Electric Mazda enters production

Mazda has begun building its first all-electric car, the MX30 compact crossover SUV, in Japan.

The car is due to go on sale here early in 2021, but the first cars built will go to Europe and to the Japanese domestic market.

The MX-30 has a 35.5kWh battery pack that Mazda says will deliver 107kW to the front wheels. Range is said to be around 200km..

Mazda says the MX-30 can be charged to 80% in around 40 minutes using DC rapid charging.
