Green Cabs in liquidation

Green Cabs

“Environmentally-friendly” taxi company Green Cabs has been put into liquidation.

It stopped trading in April, citing the impact of COVID-19 on its business, and has now had an urgent application for liquidation approved in the Wellington High Court which appointed Palliser Insolvency director Heath Gair as interim liquidator.

Green Cabs operates in five cities and had 140 self-employed contract drivers and 18 staff – the latter being granted $120,873 from the government’s COVID-19 wage subsidy package, Stuff reportsGreen Cabs logo

Green Cabs was New Zealand’s first taxi company to have a fully hybrid fleet, and the first to introduce electric taxis to key centres, including adding a Tesla Model 3.
