Porsche partnership will drive EV adoption: Chargefox

Australian EV charging network provider Chargefox says its partnership with Porsche Cars Australia to provide three years’ free, unlimited charging will aid EV uptake.

The deal applying across all Chargefox ultra-rapid charging stations and participating fast charging stations Australia-wide will drive greater EV adoption in Australia and provide EV drivers with more choice, Chargefox chief executive Marty Andrews says, noting his company also operates in New Zealand.

“It’s fantastic to see leading car manufacturers bringing new EV models to the Australian market,” he says of the Porsche Taycan’s three models due from December

“Our goal has always been to reduce road transport emissions by creating the infrastructure required to help Australia move towards a greener future with more EV’s on the road.”

After registering their vehicle details in the Chargefox app, Taycan owners will have visibility of all of the free charging available to them when using the Chargefox network.

This partnership means Chargefox now provides discounted or free charging sessions to drivers of selected Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover and Porsche models.

These partnerships make purchasing and owning an EV in Australia more affordable, Chargefox says.

It has been operating charging stations across Australia and New Zealand for two years and has managed more than 105,000 charging sessions for drivers via its iPhone and Android mobile apps.

The ultra-rapid charging network is an investment by the Australian Motoring Services (RACV, NRMA, RACQ, RAC, RAA and RACT), Wilson Transformers and Carsales founder Greg Roebuck. It is supported with grants from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and the Victorian Government.
