Tesla Battery Day now September 15
Tesla Battery Day has been moved to September 15.
The new tentative date set by Tesla chief executive Elon Musk will be combined with the company’s annual shareholder meeting and a tour of its cell production system.
He is probably referring to the battery cell production line Tesla is setting up in Fremont as part of Tesla’s secret Roadrunner project, Electrek reports.
Musk tweeted the new date this week following almost a year of delays in setting a Battery Day where he’s expected to announce details of a “million-mile” battery.
Chinese battery maker CATL has said it has just such a battery ready to go
.
But Electrek says the goal is for Tesla to produce its own battery cells at a cost below US$100 per kWh, which it expects to be included in any Battery Day announcements.
