Tesla Semi helps deliveries

The electric Tesla Semi truck has been photographed delivering Model 3 and Model Y cars as the company ramps up its sprint to close its second quarter and first half of 2020 on a high note.

The Semi recharged at California’s Rocklin supercharger, appearing to be linked to two 150kWh supercharger stalls which indicates Tesla’s battery tech has improved as it was seen three years ago attached to four or five supercharger stalls at once.

More on Tesla’s tech is expected to be announced at its Battery Day on September 15.

Semi sightings have been reported by the Tesla community online which also has photos of Tesla delivery centres filling up.

It’s possible the Semi’s updated Megacharger setup could reveal the Class 8 truck has been installed with a more efficient battery unit, Teslarati reports in a story about Tesla chief executive Elon Musk rallying staff towards a “break even” goal.

In a leaked email to Tesla employees, Musk urges Tesla staff to build and deliver as many vehicles as possible.

accessed the emailed message which says: “Breaking even is looking super tight. Really makes a difference for every car you build and deliver. Please go all out to ensure victory!”

Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse are both predicting a strong showing from Tesla.

Meanwhile, volume production of the Semi is expected soon, probably in a 482km version for short range routes and an 804km variant for longer trips.
