Bird joins Evans at Panasonic Jaguar Racing

Leading Formula E driver Sam Bird joins Kiwi driver Mitch Evans on the Panasonic Jaguar Racing team for season seven of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Bird is the only driver to have won a race in each Formula E season and he will start for Panasonic Jaguar Racing when the season begins in Santiago, Chile, on January 16 next year.

The 33-year-old has competed in every Formula E race since the series started in 2014, securing nine wins, 18 podium places, five starts in pole position and the five fastest laps in 63 starts.

“With Mitch and Sam we believe that we have arguably one of the strongest driver line-ups on the grid,” Panasonic Jaguar Racing Team director James Barclay says.

“We now have two proven race winners that are capable of enabling us to challenge for both team and driver championship titles next season.”

Bird was with Envision Virgin Racing and says he’s looking forward to his new Formula E chapter.
