Lexus will airfreight the LF-30 electrified concept from Japan to Australia to make its local debut at the 2020 Lexus Melbourne Cup in November.

The LF-30 electrified concept will be displayed as part of the Lexus Australia 2020 Melbourne Cup Carnival theme ‘Senses Electrified’.

‘Senses Electrified’ also aims to entice Australians to create their own Birdcage experience at home by igniting their senses through artisan influences across food, fashion, florals, design and music.

Each of the senses – taste, sight, scent, touch and sound – will be covered off in exciting and electrifying ways, creating inspirational touch points for people’s own Cup Day celebrations.

2020 will mark the first time ever that Lexus will deliver its iconic luxury hospitality and event experience through a creative online platform to the public – called the Lexus Lifestyle Hub, a digital destination to be found at lexus.com.au.

Lexus Australia chief executive Scott Thompson says the brand will be using innovative ways to connect with Australians in response to the unique challenges faced in 2020.

“We have partnered with leading Australian talent to create a Spring Racing experience that, like our electric future, electrifies the senses – from the comfort of your home.

“The Lexus Lifestyle Hub will allow people from all across the country to immerse themselves in the spirit of the occasion from home. We encourage people to explore and enjoy the digital destination and make this year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup one to remember,” Thompson says.

Lexus- LF-30 Electrified Concept

The Lexus LF-30 Electrified Concept points to future electrified Lexus vehicles that deliver electrifying performance and a dynamic interaction with the driver.

Its powertrain, steering, suspension and braking technology can provide the ideal vehicle posture in each handling situation, including provision of front, rear and all-wheel drive as required.

It is designed to deliver a dynamic experience unlike any currently available, with four in-wheel electric motors and maximum outputs of 400kW and 700Nm and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds.

The show car fundamentally transforms the essence of luxury vehicles with its peek towards the technology of 2030 with its futuristic design, newly designed cockpit, steer-by-wire system and autonomous driving technologies.

Evoking the fun of driving a Lexus, its technology includes new advanced posture control, drone support and other technologies to further evolve driving pleasure.

The LF-30 Electrified Concept draws on core Lexus technologies found in the leading Lexus range of self-charging hybrid electric vehicles, including battery management, power control modules and electric motors.

It also debuts a luxurious and immersive new driver-focused ‘Tazuna’ cockpit design, which is inspired by how a single rein can be used to achieve mutual understanding between horse and rider.

It utilises gesture control and enhanced presentation of vehicle information through augmented reality without having to shift the driver’s vision or operate manual switches.
