Futuristic EVs among Polestar Design Contest winners

An airship, an autonomous pod and an electric yacht are among top entries received in the global Polestar Design Contest

Polestar invited both professional and student designers to create a vision of mobility in 2040, presenting a new Polestar showing the purest of designs and not necessarily a car.

Konrad Cholewka from Poland won the professional category with his “Polestar MMXL” design – an inclusive, autonomous pod with a flexible interior design, pure in its combination of two geometric shapes.

The student category has been won by Siddhesh Bhogale from India with his “Polestar 40” design – an airship combining Polestar design with a 21st century aviation approach.

Arthur Martins from Brazil got an honourable mention for his “Spänning” electric yacht.

“We received an overwhelming amount of enthusiastic attention from inspired designers all over the world,” Polestar senior design manager Juan-Pablo Bernal says.

Designs included everything from hypercars and Arctic exploration vehicles, to personal mobility solutions and watercraft.

Entrants first submitted sketches, assessed by Polestar’s design department before the 13 finalists were invited to remote coaching and guidance from Bernal and Polestar design head Maximilian Missoni.

The final phase involved the shortlisted finalists creating fully realised digital models of their concepts which were then judged by the designer panel.

Winning designs will be brought to life as 1:5 scale models and first shown in a virtual exhibition before beginning a global tour in Polestar’s launch markets.
