VW to include three electric D-SUVs

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) will make new premium EVs for the VW Group from 2024 in Hannover, Germany.

The group’s supervisory board has confirmed production of new additional cars there, including three fully electric D-SUV models with Hannover being developed into a multi-brand site under a 680 million euro investment.

“Our main plant in Hannover is becoming the production site for three completely new premium electric vehicles in the group,” VWCV management board chairman Dr Carsten Intra says.

VWCV Works Council chair Bertina Murkovic says the new Multivan, the ID. Buzz due in 2022 and now the D-SUVs are its portfolio for this decade.

A new production line is being built at the Hannover site to make the new EVs.
