GM’s e-mobility vision explained
General Motors’ EV and AV future will be outlined by its chairman and chief executive Mary Barra in the opening keynote address at the virtual 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) from January 11-14.
Barra’s address is on January 12 at 9am Eastern Standard Time – about 18 hours behind New Zealand daylight savings time and 16 hours behind Australia (Canberra).

She will take a close look at GM’s transformational strategy to advance mobility for communities around the world, the US-based company planning 30 EVs using its Ultium platform by 2025, starting its EV launch this year and including the GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq.
Barra also features on the cover and inside the January-February edition of the It Is Innovation (i3) Consumer Technology Association magazine – the association running CES.
To accelerate mass EV adoption, GM has this week launched a new marketing campaign called “Everybody In”.
Its vision is to create a world with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion.
“There are moments in history when everything changes. Inflection points. We believe such a point is upon us for the mass adoption of electric vehicles,” GM global chief marketing officer Deborah Wahl says.
“‘Everybody In’ demonstrates our intent to lead, while inviting others – policymakers, partners, individuals – to play an active role in moving society forward, whether that’s helping to expand infrastructure, advocating for progress in their communities, or simply taking an EV for a test drive to learn about the benefits of EV ownership.”
GM is investing US$27 billion in EV and AV products through 2025, its Ultium platform capable of up to 724km range and designed to power EVs of many sizes, shapes and price points.
A new GM logo features a colour gradient of vibrant blue tones, evoking the clean skies of a zero-emissions future and the energy of the Ultium platform.
The company has also just launched a new GM.com site to share the latest information and stories about its work across electrification, safety, citizenship and the road to autonomous driving.
GM and its entities sell vehicles under the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Baojun and Wuling brands.
