Polestar 2 coming to Australia and New Zealand
Polestar has announced it will launch its all-electric Polestar 2 in the Australian and New Zealand markets, as well as South Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
It has established Polestar Automotive Australia, appointing former Volvo Car Australia executive Samantha Johnson as its new managing director.
Polestar says other markets will likely be operated on an importer basis with local partners yet to be confirmed in New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Preparations in these markets are at different stages as the brand organises market launches and eventually the opening of online sales.
Specific dates and details for each market will be published locally closer to market launching and will include model specification and product pricing, Polestar says.

Polestar’s new China and Asia Pacific regions head Nathan Forshaw say specific roll-out timing is at an advanced planning stage and the recruitment of key individuals has begun.
“While we are growing rapidly, we are ensuring both our organisation and processes ensure a consistent and truly Polestar experience for our customers, wherever they are based.”
“The brand is gathering real momentum, and it is great to be expanding with Polestar 2 beyond our initial global markets in China, North America and Europe,” Polestar chief executive Thomas Ingenlath says.

Polestar produces the Polestar 1 – a low-volume electric performance hybrid GT with 124km electric range and a carbon fibre body, while the Polestar 2 electric performance fastback is the company’s first fully electric, high volume car.
The Polestar 2 launched in 2020 with 470km range and an all-wheel drive electric powertrain that produces 300kW power and 660Nm torque.
The Polestar 3 electric performance SUV will join the portfolio later, as well as the Precept – a design study vehicle released in 2020 slated for future production.
