Kiwi Mitch Evans and Briton Sam Bird, who both drive for Jaguar Racing, will be on the full grand prix layout at Monte Carlo for the first time in Formula E history.

Second in the ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship, 23 points behind the Mercedes-EQ team, Jaguar Racing aims to bolster its points in the Jaguar I-Type 5 cars around the iconic Monégasque‎ circuit during the Monaco E-Prix.

The team will take to Monte Carlo’s streets – first used for a race in 1929 – for Formula E’s round seven on Saturday May 8.

Evans and Bird have tasted success before when they were both on the podium together in the 2013 Monaco GP2 series race with Bird taking the victory.

Having previously scored points in Formula E races around the Monégasque‎ circuit, Bird and Evans aim to push for more in the 45-minute plus one lap E-Prix.

New for the Monaco E-Prix, Jaguar Racing will be running the I-Type 5 with a livery update as partner Castrol reveals its ‘Castrol ON’ branding.

Castrol ON is the official e-fluids partner for Jaguar Racing’s Formula E Team.

“The anticipation and excitement you feel as a race team heading to Monaco never fades,” Jaguar Racing team director James Barclay says.

“The circuit is legendary and we will be making Formula E history once again this year as we race on the full iconic circuit layout for the first time with our all-electric race cars.

“We were unfortunate not to score points in Valencia but are now completely focussed on getting the most out of the Jaguar I-Type 5 around Monaco and returning to points scoring positions.”

Mitch Evans says the Monaco event is extra special as he lives there.

Jaguar Land Rover says Formula E remains a key priority for the brand, allowing it to test and develop new EV technologies in a high-performance environment.
