Peugeot’s plans for NZ low emissions

Peugeot pledges to continue introducing “an ever-increasing range of low and no emission vehicles to New Zealand” following the Government’s announcement to stimulate uptake of low emission vehicles (LEVs).

It plans to provide a range of innovative and low emission vehicle options to Kiwi motorists, including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and fully electric vehicles, starting with the 3008 SUV HYBRID4 which is available now and has a 59km electric range and more than 600km combined range.

“Over recent years Peugeot has introduced a wide range of fuel-efficient vehicles powered by award-winning PureTech engines, so already has well-established credentials when it comes to improving performance and reducing carbon emissions,” Auto Distributors New Zealand chief executive Chris Brown says.

“The announcement supports a step-change we anticipated quite some time ago,” he adds.

“The incentive coincides with the arrival of new fully electric models that will help deliver even greater performance enhancements to customers and generate positive environmental outcomes.”

Peugeot’s range will give people the power of choice to best suit their needs and budget, Brown explains.

“This approach mirrors that of Europe where Peugeot is one of the few brands that currently meet the stringent EU emissions standards.  This experience enables us to be at the forefront of developments in the LEV space and our model portfolio demonstrates our commitment to this endeavour.

“We will also be releasing a range of all-new electric Peugeot vehicles over coming months, which will help bolster the ranks and expand the range of LEVs available,” Brown says.

New full EV models to launch in the second half of 2021 include the e-208 and e-2008 which will both qualify for a government Clean Car rebate, while early next year will see the release of a new 308 PHEV and 508 PHEV, as well as a new fully electric e-Expert van.
