Peugeot aims for electric-only in Europe by 2030
Peugeot models launched in Europe by 2030 will be fully electric, its chief executive Linda Jackson is reported as saying.
But the Stellantis brand will continue to have internal combustion engine (ICE) models in Peugeot’s line-up for international buyers, she says.
“As we move on to the new [Stellantis] platforms, STLA Small, Medium, Large (and Frame for trucks), by 2030 in Europe all of our models will be electric,” Jackson tells Automotive News Europe. “But I still have to make sure I maintain internal combustion offerings for my international customers.”
Peugeot’s 2030 move beats the EU’s proposal to mandate only zero-emissions vehicles in 2035. Some automotive manufacturers have announced they will be all-electric in Europe before then.
Other Stellantis brands planning to go all-electric include DS (2026), Alfa Romeo (2027) and Opel/Vauxhall (2028).
Peugeot’s present line-up is 70% electrified (fully electric or plug-in hybrid) and it expects to launch the new fully electric 3008 soon.
