Paxsters pulled
NZ Post’s electric Paxster fleet has been temporarily stood down as a precautionary measure to undergo some unplanned maintenance checks.
”Alternative delivery processes are already being implemented in impacted areas, however, we are expecting some delivery delays to mail as a result,” says NZ Post.
Posties can use bicycles, e-bikes or walk to deliver mail while the issue is being resolved.
NZ Post says unplanned maintenance also removed an aircraft used in its air network, which could contribute to delivery delays. It says mail and parcel volumes have increased because of Black Friday sales and Christmas approaching.
Reports suggest an issue was found in the rear suspension of three NZ Post delivery vehicles, which resulted in the Paxster fleet being suspended while the matter is investigated.
Introducing the Paxters in 2017 prompted some angst then.
