Tesla Model Y leads December passenger car registrations

Tesla led New Zealand’s new passenger car registrations in December 2022 with the Model Y taking the top spot with 868 registrations and the Model 3 following in second place with 413 registrations.

The MG ZS took third place in passenger car registrations with 396 units.

It was followed by the Suzuki Swift (367), Mitsubishi Outlander (336), Mitsubishi ASX (331), BYD Atto 3 (318), Toyota Corolla (301), Toyota RAV4 (268) and the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (255).

The passenger vehicle market was up 12.4% year-on-year for the month to 8505 registrations, while the commercial market was down 25.6% year-on-year for the month to 3335 registrations.
